Virus/Trojan detected in GPG4Win 2.2.1

I’ve run the full download of GPG4Win thru the online scanner at https://www.virustotal.com and it detected 2 items:
TROJ_GEN.F47V1011
VirTool.Win32.Obfuscator.hg!b1 (v)

Version 2.2.0 did not have any infections, so I am hoping these are false positives, but I can not install 2.2.1 due to the “infections” that have been detected.

Has anyone else run into this?

Yes this is a false positive.

You already mention that Virustotal ( https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/9e45d97fd2a79435e9b89dc10781ab3f3c12a0f9571904b2f36ae10137a1243d/analysis/ ) one out of 45 Scan engines reports “TROJ_GEN.F47V1011” and another one Reports “VirTool.Win32.Obfuscator.hg!b1 (v)”

That is one service of virustotal. You can see that something is very likely a false positive if just one search engine thinks it has found some generic heuristic match and no one else finds it.

Feel free to get in touch with VIPRE / TrendMicro-HouseCall and notify them about this and / or ask them if they agree that it is a false positive. This usually helps and is one of the ways to improve such things.

Thanks for the confirmation. Like I said, it seemed odd that 2.2.0 was “clean” and 2.2.1 was “infected.”

I did want to get the note out just in case. Having it confirmed to be a false positive makes me feel better.

Thanks,
Dave
