Hi i upgrade from 4.1.0 to 4.3.1 my test machine and all keys are lost.
Is there any scenario how to upgrade silently without loosing keys?
Hi @KONIKPK, usually you should just install the new version over the old one (not uninstalling the old version) and the keys should still be available.
If this doesn’t work please try to backup the folder %APPDATA%\gnupg
then upgrade to 4.3.1 and finally copy the backup folder back to its original place.
Even with uninstalling the old version, the private and public keys are kept. So there is probably something else going on.
With 4.2.0 keyboxd
was enabled by default for new users of Gpg4win. If you deinstalled and installed, you may have somehow skipped the migration. You should still find your keys in the old place. Or you could switch off use-keyboxd
via %APPDATA%\gnupg\common.conf (or so). See Gpg4win - Change History and the GnuPG documentation for more details.
Best,
Bernhard
