Padlock symbol missing from encrypted files

I have one user whos encrypted kleoptra files do not have the padlock symbol next to them instead they have the red kleopatra symbol next to them, is there anyway to change this? the files are definitely encrpyted as when the user sent me the file the padlock symbol shows against the file

The symbol depends on the extension of the file. When the users encrypts the file what do they enter for that filename? Does it end with .gpg? Note that when you want to check the file extension on Windows you have to enable this. That can be done in the file manager somewhere in the menu “View”.

In general: As long as you know that the file is encrypted and how to handle it it is no problem that the symbol is not the expected one. Only it can be that Windows doesn’t know what to do with that file when you double-click it.

The file was saved is .pgp . and also .gpg. These files when forwarded to me show to padlock symbol but on the users machine the files have a red circle symbol with a little shortcut arrow. The user has said this is the way she knows it has been encrypted. Was hoping there was a way to change this in the Kleopatra software.

Was it this way since the beginning or did it change after an update or even after the user did change something in the system themselves? Does it help to reinstall Gpg4win? And which version of Gpg4win did the user have?
