Hello Community,
I’d like a solution to automatically encrypt replies to received emails. I select the option " Select crypto settings automatically for reply and forward" in GPGOL config, but nothing.
Best Regards.

Hello @bernhard,
Yes, it’s while trying to reply to encrypted emails that I remark the GPGOL button isn’t automatically enabled. So I have activated it by clicking, which I wouldn’t really want. A screenshot of this, is bellow :
Best Regards.
Hi @JohnTheRipper can you please share your configs for GpgOL?
Hello @bernhard
Thank you very much for the feedback.
Sorry, for my late reply. Yes, i have tried to reply an encrypted email and I remark that you still need to click the GPGOL button for encryption to be enabled.
Best Regards.
@JohnTheRipper you have to check the option “Encrypt new messages by default”. Then the GpgOL button should be activated automatically.
Hello @cklassen
Thank you very much for your feedback. I have explored your method, but the problem is that, all emails are automatically encrypted by default, but we need that the response emails to be automatically encrypted when you reply to an encrypted email.
Best regards.
Sorry, I missed that part with only replies to encrypted emails. I can only try to reproduce the problem with OpenPGP but there everything looks fine. These are my settings:
When I reply to an encrypted email the encryption is enabled automatically. When the email was not encrypted and I click on reply the encryption is not enabled automatically.
The important option is “Select crypto settings automatically for reply and forward” but you enabled it already so that is not the problem.
Did you restart Kleopatra after you changed the settings? For me it was necessary to do so.
Hello @cklassen,
I’m sorry for my late reply.
I restarted Kleopatra by stopping it and then starting it again; but the problem has not been solved.
Best Regards.
Hi @JohnTheRipper,
as it works for @cklassen, but not for you: What version of Gpg4win are you using? The latest stable (aka 4.4.1)? If it is not the latest stable, can you try with it?
Sorry for so much back and forth, but we need to find the difference to what we are seeing and what is not working for you.
Is the email you are replying to an S/MIME or and OpenPGP/MIME mail?
Regards,
Bernhard
