Kleopatra doesn't see trust levels set with gpg

Hi, everyone,

I can’t get Kleopatra to see trust levels set with gpg. I tried this:

  1. Import a new certificate to Kleopatra via “File > Import…”, click on “Do Not Certify Now” in the “Certify new certificate?” window.
  2. Click on the imported certificate, a window opens. Select the “User IDs” tab, notice that the trust level of the certificate is “unknown”.
  3. Use gpg to change the trust level to, say, “marginal” by running gpg.exe --edit-key user@mail.com (your email will be different, of course), and entering trust, 3, then save.
  4. Reload the gpg agent with gpg-connect-agent.exe reloadagent /bye, shutdown and restart Kleopatra.
  5. Check the trust level in Kleopatra. It’s still “unknown”, while I expect Kleopatra to report “marginal”.

Please help me understand what’s going on.

after your action, please check the output of GnuPG again, like gpg --list-keys user@mail.com and you will see that the trust of the pubkey in question is still “unknown”.

The difference here is between the trust status of the pubkey you are looking at, and the “ownertrust”, which you have just set.

“Ownertrust” is the indication of how much you are trusting the owner of the pubkey to add trust towards other pubkeys.

If you want to mark a pubkey as trusted, you can sign or locally sign it with our own private key.
