GpgEx forces use of nonexistent Kleopatra - help!

Hi,

I have always used GPGv1 because it works with the unmaintained GPGShell. Now I am finally forced to use GPGv2 because Enigmail will soon require it.

When it comes to Windows, I have had nothing but crashes and trouble with Gpg4Win in the past, and the Kleopatra software wreaks havok both under Windows and Linux.

Now that I am forced to use Gpg4Win, since there are no other alternatives for GPGv2, I prefer to stick with GPA as that crashes a lot less.

But when using GpgEx, even when installing the Lite version, it still refuses to use GPA and gives a “Kleopatra not found” error. The documentation says it’s supposed to work with both.

Is there some registry tweak I have to do to force GpgEx to work as described and allow me to use GPA?

Thank you!

Hi,
sorry to hear the Gpg4win and Kleopatra crashes a lot for you.
Maybe you can help us to understand why it cashes so we can fix this at some point in the future.

In generally GpgEx should would work fine as long as an uiserver provider runs.
Both Kleo and GPA are ui server providers.

Best,
Bernhard

Actually if GPA is running, GPGEx works fine with it.

Will running Administrator Mode (or Compatibility Mode to XP, which includes Administrator Mode) help stop the frequent GPA crash-on-exit and occasional “exception” error at startup?

I don’t know, as I do not know the cause for the crashes.
(Please also state the version you are having problems with. There is a section in the Gpg4win Compendium which starts with trouble shooting. If we can reproduce the crash, we are probably in a position to fix it.)
