Today I upgraded Gpg4Win to version 4.4.0 via winget.
Since then, all I get when e.g., doing right-click / Sign and encrypt on a file is:
---------------------------
GpgEX
---------------------------
Can not connect to the GnuPG user interface:
Invalid argument
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
I’ve tried rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling both GnuPG and Gpg4win (also via winget), to no avail.
I assume this the only issue you have with your installation?
That sign/encrypt via Kleopatra does work?
Why did you install GnuPG and Gpg4win separately? GnuPG is installed via the Gpg4win installer, too. I assume you wanted to use a different gpg version than intended with that release? So what is the version of gpg in your installation?
Have you updated Gpg4win with winget in the past without issues?
Anything suspicious in its log output?
The only (poor) reason why I installed both is that when I looked at the output from winget list I saw two apps installed, so the logical repair process was to uninstall both and then reinstall both.
I’m pretty sure I did upgrade Gpg4Win in the past with winget, as it’s been my standard upgrade scheme for quite a while now.
But: looking at my application inventory audit, I noticed that I had Gpg4win version 4.3.1 on 2024-11-27, and that since 2024-11-29 I have 4.4.0… so the issue is probably not related to the 4.4.0 upgrade:
install only Gpg4Win via winget install GnuPG.Gpg4win
This gives me:
PS❯ winget list gnu
Name Id Version Source

GNU Privacy Guard GnuPG.GnuPG 2.4.7 winget
