Does GPG have a problem with Symbolic Link client\server configurations?

Hello all,
First post here so forgive any shortcomings in terminology.
I have a PC, connected to an application\file server via “junction folder”"symbolic link" that attempts to encrypt a text file sitting on the application server. However, I receive a cannot find file message. I’ve seen PC\file servers work fine with this software when mapped directly to a network drive and path. This is the only instance of this occurring and the difference is, on the PC trying to do the encryption, it is mapped to the file server through a symbolic link.
The actual path on the server is something like G:\info\documents
The PC’s network path appears as \shared\documents

Does anyone know of a known bug or a work around? I have browsed the KB and have found nothing.

Additional info - it looks like they are using GNUPG1.1.4. I have no control over their environment, they do not want to update to newer versions simply ‘try it to see if it works’.

Thanks in advance
