Hello I work for California Community College that has processes which require terms of service and other documents be submitted to IT and the business office before I can download or use software. I found the GNU licensing agreement for Gpg4win, but I can’t find privacy terms for the software, a terms and conditions document, or vpat (accessibility) documentation. Do these documents exist? If so, can I get a copy of them? THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP.
Hi @Terminal-IR,
thanks for considering Gpg4win!
You probably already know:
- Gpg4win is a desktop software
- It is licensed as Free Software (sometimes also called Open Source), payments are voluntary. So it is not a classic purchasing contract.
privacy terms for the software
Can you say more about what you need here?
There is no contractual relationship of users to the organizations providing the Gpg4win software and installer. So there is no service, and the using organisations are not known.
The only network request that goes towards the organisation that provides the installer is one looking for updates. So there is no transmission of personal data.
terms and conditions document
As it is no classic contract and no contractual relationship, the Free Software licenses are the full set of terms and conditions as far as I understand it, but I am not an expert on US or Californian regulations.
vpat
As far as I know, there currently is no Gpg4win self assessment following the Voluntary Product Accessibility Template - Wikipedia available.
(Given that there are many regulations world wide, it is a challenge for us to provide formally documented self-assessment for each one. But we may at some point create such an assessment if we can understand the significance and we find the resources to do it.)
Please note that there is a business ready packaging of the same Free Software components that come with Gpg4win called GnuPG Desktop, see https://gnupg.com. This package can be bought in a classic way as it comes with guaranteed support. So if you would like to purchase a larger number of seats, individual compliance documents could probably be negotiated as part of this purchase. Use their contact address to ask, if you considering such a purchase.
Does this already answer your questions?
Can you continue using Gpg4win at the California Community College with the answers provided?
Best Regards
Bernhard
Thank you Bernhard for your response. I will share with my colleagues and hopefully they will come back with a positive decision on using Gpg4win.
