This is barely a bug, but should perhaps be fixed anyway:
Open “Settings > Configure Kleopatra… > Appearance > Certificate Categories”, select a certificate category and click on “Set Icon…”. Select “All” in the drop-down menu at the top-left and type alligator in the input field at the top-right.
Result: Kleopatra finds two seemingly identical icons, alligator and org.kde.alligator. Same seems to happen with other icons with names starting with org.kde.
Expected: Kleopatra only has (and finds) either of the two.
Since this one also has to do with category icons, and is also very minor, I’m reporting it here: the “Other” category doesn’t contain any icons, and should perhaps be removed.
FWIW, after more exploration I found more duplicates: many (perhaps all) icons with names ending on -symbolic have a duplicate without the suffix, e.g. media-record-symbolic and media-record seem to be identical.
Hi @teapot, this no bug. Kleopatra looks for icons on the system and offers the ones it finds for selection. Looks like some icons themes have their icons in two places, in one of them it is a symbolic link to the other one. So this is the same icon. It does not matter which of them you choose.
And the icons available in the different categories depends on the icon themes installed on your system. I myself have several icons in the “Other” category, for example.
Hi, @eebb, thank you for the reply. I’m not sure at all, but I think what you described is only the case for Linux (and maybe MacOS) versions of Kleopatra: on Windows the icons for categories are hardcodied into .dll file(s) that are part of the Kleopatra installation.

On Windows I see the two versions of the alligator icon, too. I’ll ask the maintainer next week why that is.
But as the icons both work and adding icons to certificate categories is no feature which is often used anyway, I assume there won’t be any changes. Otherwise I’ll report here.
As I assumed before, we just take the needed icon themes and package them with Gpg4win. If they have alias names for some icons, those will appear for selection multiple times.
