Time to bump it up to 8192 or 32768 to get an extra year or two before quantum computers can break it.

At the moment a practical working solid-state quantum processor has managed to work out that 15 = 5 x 3. Actually, maybe by now it’s got as far as 21 = 7 x 3. There is a long way to go.

No need to change your key from 2048 for a while yet, or maybe go to 4096 if you’re really paranoid.

But encryption is about planning for the next few decades, and by then the field will be exploding. If modern fabrication techniques get applied to quantum chips there could be a quick jump from 1-2 qubits to say, 1,000,000.
