Generate key without email address

I’m new to the forum. Recently upgraded from gpg4win 1.1.4 to 2.0.0.

GPG permits the generation of a key with arbitrary id. However, GPA (and Keleopatra?) now require an email address to generate a key.

True, GPG is very useful for encrypting email, but that is not the only use of it.

It appears GPA has been deliberately changed to now require an email address, so I’m just wondering what the developers are thinking?

Development is starting to look a little “odd”. Is the next step for the program to reject all keys without a valid email. Is GPG4win destined to become the new identity police? Questions, so many questions? But here is a simple one:

Q: Whats the deal with GPA requiring an email address to generate a key?
